The Rules

In order to run a kick-ass party, we need to create a space where people feel as safe and as comfortable as possible. We thus ask partygoers to follow a few simple guidelines:

  1. RESPECT is key. If we can’t respect each other, then why do we hang out with each other? Just remember that respect is a two-way street, and people tend to give people the amount of respect that they deserve. (Basically, be nice to each other.)
  2. RESPONSIBILITY is a part of life. Every action invokes consequences. While individuals find themselves in unique situations, we are all largely masters of our own destinies. Thus, we ask that you take responsibility for your own actions.
  3. CONSENT should go without saying, but sadly it sometimes doesn’t. If you’re going to get hot and heavy with others, make sure to get consent. And if you’re one of those kinky folk who get turned on by screaming or hearing the words NO or STOP, we provide a nightly safeword. Look for it at the entrance to the event.
  4. SELF-ESTEEM is the foundation of empowerment. Sexy people come in many shapes, sizes and colours. Remember, nobody is attractive (or attracted) to everyone. So if you are declining someone, be clear but kind…and if someone declines you, don’t take it personally! After all, we’ve all been declined at some point!
  5. COMMUNICATION ties us all to each other. Without it, we misunderstand each other. After all, dialogue is always more productive than gossip. If you have any concerns, bring it directly to our attention, either by e-mail (spit.vancouver@gmail.com) or in person to Quinn or Mike.
  6. COMMUNITY is what we’re trying to foster. A community is like a family: it is only as strong as the care we take for one another. If we all look out for each other, we will all be stronger for it.
  7. FUN is what we’re all looking for. So make sure to have it, and do your best to make sure that others are having it too.
