partner profile – Clubcard Printing

Posted by mkushnir on July 7, 2010

although it might have been effectively a gay generation ago, yours truly once did naughty things like sneak into bars underage to connect with the hot arty queers around town…even some places that don’t exist anymore, like sonar or the chameleon. but how did i find out about this? i was still living at home with a 56k modem connection to the outside world (yeah, i know). there was no twitter, there was no facebook. what was a boy to do?

i went out downtown, and walked around, and saw posters. everywhere. and it always seemed that the posters for the cool queer events had a special logo on them. and that’s when i learned about Clubcard Printing. they have been supporters of the arts and queer scenes for a very long time.

i went down to talk to MATT, who has worked so many favours for us i can’t even count. seriously, this local born-and-bred cutie knows how to work magic behind the counter. (hands off, boys – he’s straight.)

Who are you and what do you do?

I’m Matt from Clubcard!  We print really cool things, and I help you decide how to best materialize your concept. There’s quite a selection of printable media out there, and you can sometimes use a bonafide ‘printing geek’ to simplify the process!

Tell us about Clubcard.

Well, I’m a recent addition to the Clubcard Team, but I had already seen our sample-pack stickers and club fliers around Vancouver since way back.  I’m proud to say, we’re known for the awesome quality printing ’round these parts.

What’s the best thing about working with Clubcard?

We really get along (and that’s the most important thing in a workplace!), and the Team is really knowledgable and experienced.  We can understand graphics and printing, from the totally complex to the seemingly benign.  I definitely appreciate the dynamic.

Funniest story on the job?

‘Pizza day’ conversations.  Oh man, we have the best discussions while shoving cheesy wedges of dough down our faces.

If I’m buying a round, you’re having a…?

I’ll take a pint of ‘Keith’s, good sir!

Best memory at SPIT?

Haven’t been yet, but I KNOW I will be there next time. You people got some real style!
