Who’s got talent? SPIT’s got talent!

Posted by qpeters on November 25, 2009

It’s been a a bit since you’ve heard from us on here, but I assure you that we’re working hard behind-the-scenes to amp up your dance party experience. Plus, I’m such a grandpa when it comes to blog posts and Twitter. You should hear me grumble about technology “back in my day”.

Focus, Quinn. Onto the performances!

We have a wonderful set of performances for you this SPIT, and we’d like to introduce you to the performers that will make them happen.

Firstly, we present to you Rasputin R. Gray.  Rasputin says of himself:

...and into the darkness he dances!

A flash of light, and Rasputin emerges...

“I have always been inspired by our native aboriginal art, dance, and traditions. For previous performances I have drawn much strength from my ancestry. When I was invited to participate with SPIT I saw this as a perfect time to expand my influences and bring something new to the stage… See you all there!”

It’s hard to describe Rasputin’s performance style, but it’s sultry, kinky, provocative and powerful. I was going to link to a video of him, but I’d like to leave something to the imagination. Instead, a few teaser shots!

And if your thirst for performance is not quenched by Rasputin, then I assure you that you will be sensorily satiated after our next performers: Vital Divine!

Vital Divine had this to say:

If Vital Divine is this impressive when still, imagine them in motion!

“Amber, Gillian, Jean Grey, and Naomi Joy collectively form the troupes vital divine and Luciterra. Through their dances, these women embody commitments to social justice, holistic health, and art innovation.

The troupe is ready to take on the SPIT stage.

They dance an intensely feminine and edgy fusion of old world vocabularies with new school stylings, to create an effect that is elusive, powerful, and compelling.  Subverting socially constructed binaries with a multidimensional representation of femininity, they believe in thetransformative power of sensual and proud performance.  They have each been dancing since childhood, and have been focused on bellydance technique for a combined total of 20 years.  They are proud to be involved with this party, and are inspired by the progressive and inclusive work of the SPIT organizers.”

You can check them out here:

If that wasn’t enough, be prepared for a little bit of audience participation (I’d advise doing some stretches and a Jane Fonda workout before coming to the party), the candle confessional–a place for you to absolve yourself of your ‘sins’, so that you can ‘sin’ again by the end of the night– and the Make-Out Booth (MOB) for all of your flirtation and frenching needs.

That’s it for now, so excited to see you all on the 4th!
